Taking Adversity and Turning It Into a “Desirable Difficulty”

Alicia Brown will will talk about turning life’s obstacles into desirable difficulties and positive self-encouragement.

Alicia is the founder and President of FANS or Fresh Attitudes for New Success, Inc. as well as an outreach coordinator of the U.S. Addiction Services.  Alicia, five years in recovery from opiate addiction, uses her unique life experience to reach out to individuals who, like her have been incarcerated, to teach employment skills needed to obtain a successful re-entry into our community and communities all over the state of Indiana.

Alicia is passionate about changing the stigmas and perceptions of convicted felons who desire to change their situations.  She works tirelessly to create relationships with local businesses encouraging them to hire felons.

She was recently accepted into the SPARK program and is excited to learn more about her business and herself.
